Hello members and friends of KCBMWMC! Volume 39 | Issue 5 of the KCBMWMC Newsletter will be published next week. We invite you to submit original written articles with photographs that inspire you or may inspire others to ride, go, and do.
If you submitted a classified ad and you would like it to run again this month please let me know. Typically silence = approval but for the purposes of classified ads, silence = removal.
Please send your articles and photos to editor@kcbmwmc.com no later than Friday, May 11. Thank you!
The Kansas City Triathlon will be held Sunday, May 13 at Longview Lake. The organizers of the race, USA Triathlon (USAT) has asked if the KCBMWMC could provide two volunteer motorcycle operators to shuttle USAT officials around the course the day of the race. Ed Klein has volunteered to fill one spot so we need one more rider.
If you would like to provide motorcycle shuttle services to race officials please contact Don Hamblin. Don will work with the USAT to ensure you have the information you need for this volunteer opportunity.

Sorry to everyone who has already renewed their dues for this year and have gotten a ‘reminder to renew’ email. There is a glitch somewhere that we are trying to track down. Hopefully we will get it found soon! Thanks for your understanding.

As we learned at the February meeting, club member Bernie Grossman will be receiving a stem cell transplant on March 14 to fight multiple myeloma (bone cancer). After the transplant, his immune system will be more fragile than that of a newborn’s. Transplant patients can go from fine one minute to needing a doctor’s visit the next. In most cases all is fine, just a very proactive not a “wait and see” approach. For 30 days following the transplant someone needs to be with Bernie 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
While Bernie’s family will be doing all they can, there are only 4 family members in the Kansas City area. Bernie’s insurance does not cover home health care so the family is asking for friends to sign up for a 4 hour “shift” to stay with Bernie. If you can’t stay with Bernie, frozen meals for 1 – 2 people that have been properly prepared (i.e. fresh, properly washed, adequately cooked ingredients prepared with clean utensils on clean surfaces) will be happily accepted. And as always, calls, cards, and texts are always welcome.
Please follow this link to sign up for a shift to stay with Bernie!

Rally Planning Meeting
With our 2018 Land of Oz Rally quickly approaching, we have scheduled a Rally Planning Meeting for February 13, 2018, at Minsky’s in Lee’s Summit. Anyone who is interested in the rally itself, with comments or concerns from past rallies, or considering volunteering is encouraged to attend. The meeting will begin a 7:00 pm, so come early and enjoy a pizza with the group before the meeting.
On a side note, since the club bylaws restrict anyone from holding two Officer Positions, the Board of Directors approved by unanimous consent a motion to allow me to fill both positions until a suitable replacement for the Rally Chair position is appointed. Anyone who is interested in being the Rally Chair please contact any member of the Board of Directors for consideration.
